Open Access Policy

Open access commitment

ISRN Journals operates as a publisher of research articles using the immediate open access model. This implies that once the journal accepts and publishes the manuscript, the full text of the article becomes freely available to the world through the internet. This enhances the discoverability of the article and its citation potential.

Licensing and reuse rights

ISRN Journals operates as a publisher of articles using the CC BY 4.0 license, unless otherwise specified. This license permits the reader to use the work and share the work for any purpose, including for commercial use, as long as proper attribution and indication of changes are made.

No special permission is required to use CC BY licensed content, as long as the use or derivative work is appropriately cited and does not imply the authors’ endorsement.

Author self-archiving and repository posting

ISRN Journals permits the sharing of the published articles to maximize their reach and impact. This includes:

  • preprint (prior to peer review), and/or
  • accepted manuscript (after peer review, prior to typesetting), and/or
  • link to the final published version (version of record).

Wherever feasible, ISRN Journals recommends authors to link back to the final article page to ensure the citations point to the final version.

Text and data mining

ISRN Journals’ open license enables text and data mining, as well as other activities, for its content, provided the proper attribution conditions are met.

Exceptions: third-party material inside open access articles

It may occur that some articles contain third-party content, for instance, a figure, for which the author of the article has the right to use the content of the figure in the article but cannot license the figure itself under CC BY. In these cases, the caption of the figure or table must indicate the restrictions. Permission for the use of these third-party materials must be sought from the rightsholder.

Why open access at ISRN Journals

ISRN Journals believes that open access promotes equity in the sharing of knowledge. This license enables the research to be used and read by many people, particularly in areas where access to the journal might otherwise be limited. This license also enhances the public value of the research.
